Walk In The Park

The weather in Toronto has been absolutely beautiful lately. My tree-lined street is as green as green gets, and the aromatic scent of lilacs and freshly cut grass fills the air. I love springtime in the city. Yesterday, I was able to get away to High Park for about an hour to wander the grounds. If you’ve never been to the park in the city’s west end, put it on your to-do list. It is a sprawling green oasis in the middle of a concrete jungle, filled with an abundance of flowers and wildlife; there is even a zoo! (Although maybe not for much longer.)

March Madness

First of all, this post has nothing to do with college basketball (sorry boys), and I am fully aware that it is no longer March.

Today is April 5th, and in other words, the end of Mercury Retrograde. Finally!

While I read my horoscope occasionally, I certainly don’t live by it, and have never put much weight into the side-effects of mercury retrograde…Until now.

You may have noticed that I have been absent from my blog for the last few weeks, and even my entire online presence was weak. That’s because I have basically been a walking billboard for Murphy’s Law. Computer issues, phone problems, near car crashes, setback after setback, leading to argument after argument, plus an overall lack of inspiration has really put me in a funk.  I went weeks without doing my nails (unheard of), and the things that used to excite and inspire me just left me bored.

I felt a change last night though, I put a fresh coat of lacquer on my nails, and bookmarked pages upon pages of potential blog ideas. So here’s to April showers, May flowers, and a return to normalcy.

I leave you with some beautiful bright and caotic paintings that I came across by Berlin-based artist Yago Hortal. The abstract neon works perfectly encompass my current state of mind; Overwhelmed, but optimistic.

Until next time (soon, I promise).

Spring Fever

The temperature in Toronto got up to a balmy 17 degrees Celsius yesterday, and while we had a fairly mild winter, these temps are still a welcome change. Unfortunately for me though, I spent the entire day inside working, except for the few minutes I took in the evening to snap these photos. Even though I could only enjoy the weather from my windows, I celebrated the changing season by wearing as much colour as possible. I just can’t bring myself to wear my typical black and grey when it’s sunny and beautiful outside. Does anyone else immediately break out their spring wardrobe at the first signs of warmer weather? I for one will take any excuse to forgo wearing socks.
