If you were only going to buy one fashion investment piece in your lifetime, the argument for it being a little black jacket by Chanel is a pretty solid one. Chanel is synonymous with ‘timeless’ and ‘classic’; you will have it, and wear it forever. To showcase just how much this is true, Karl Lagerfeld (Chanel’s head designer) and Carine Roitfeld (former editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris) teamed up to create the ultimate retrospective of the iconic little black Chanel jacket. The book, which was photographed by Lagerfeld himself and styled by Roitfeld, will be out in August and features some of the fashion world’s biggest movers and shakers donning the LBJ, and showcasing its versatility. Here are some of my favorite shots, as well as a two short videos: The making of the the book, and the making of the jacket itself.
As I’ve mentioned before, my boyfriend and I have been house hunting for a while now, and although we have yet to find our dream house, I think we are getting closer. If you are familiar with the Toronto real estate market you know how hard it is to buy a house right now. There are so few quality listings at the moment, and those that are worth seeing tend to sell for 15% or more over asking price. Today we are going to have a second look at a house that I really like, but my boyfriend has some issues with. Some aspects of the house are dated, but nothing that isn’t fixable, or liveable for the time being. The main level of the house has parquet flooring throughout the living and dining room, which, while it isn’t my first choice for flooring, I don’t mind. The rest of the house has so much character and charm that I can easily see past any design flaws that I can fix later. My boyfriend however couldn’t disagree more. The word “hate” was thrown around. In an attempt to sway him, I wanted to find him a quick and stylish solution to updating the floors without ripping them up right away, and what’s easier than a coat of paint? These photos are my jumping off point for boyfriend bargaining:
I did it again! I’ve been neglectful to this blog, but not out of disinterest or lack of topics, I’ve just been preoccupied with real-life. My boyfriend and I are (still) renovating that basement apartment while simultaneously house-hunting and both of those tasks are proving to be far more difficult than we expected. We also had 2 birthday celebrations for his 5 year old daughter, and enjoyed a visit from his parents who were in town for 5 days from Nova Scotia. So while I try to get things back on track, I thought I would share a bit of what I’ve been up to through the lense of my iphone. See you soon!
